May 1st Central IA Chap Color Guard escorted DAR PG from Des Moines airport to Ames, Iowa State DAR meeting
May 2nd confirmed Central Iowa chapter had applied for Partners in patriotism award
May 2nd placed stone on the grave of Central Iowa Chapter member’s g-g-g-g-grandfather a Rev War Patriot buried in KY.
May 3rd Replied to SAR-Talk to explain Iowa “expedited” approval request.
May 4th Submitted articles on the grave marking to 7 newspapers, the SAR Magazine and the the Iowa Patriot
May 4th CIC Member wrote and submitted article for SAR magazine about DAR PG escort.
May 4th CIC member contacted KY SAR officers for assistance on KY cemetery project.
May 4th received a call from DM Register reporter Mike Kilen about an interview and possible article. Appt. set for May 19th.
May 5th Sent typed and sent in application for James Shelmandine.
May 5th Received confirmation from the editor of the Drumbeat (GSSR National magazine) that they would run an article in the Summer ’09 issue about Iowa’s Ebenezer Ayres.
May 6th sent Brockway story info to Iowa Patriot editor.
May 7th Article published in the Interior Journal Newspaper in Stanford, KY.

May 7th Central Iowa Chapter Color Guard presented a Certificate of Appreciation to McCall Monument in Newton Iowa. Photos and story was sent to newspapers in Newton, Pella, Marshalltown, Newton and Oskaloosa.
May 8th Spoke with Dick Burnett of KY SAR about possible cemetery project in Stanford, Ky
May 9th sent out invitation for all IASSAR members to join Central Iowa Chapter for the marking of veterans graves at Woodland Cemetery.
May 11th notified of the approval of youngest member of the Central Iowa Chapter, Jack Benjamin-Michael Rowley age 1
May 11th I spoke with Brenda Edwards of the Advocate-Messenger newspaper in Danville, KY about a SAR Menifee family article to appear in the May 17 paper.
May 11th Received (from Ehmcke) and sent (to webmaster) the latest C.A.R. newsletter.
May 12th sent Dr. Bovenmyer application to IASSAR Registrar
May 13th Sent DAR member Brenda Hare and IASSAR President Information on Martha Washington award
May 13th had discussion with Carol Bodensteiner a contributing writer for The Iowan about getting some information about the August 8th Fort Madison ceremony in the next issue.

May 15th notified Dr. Bovenmyer of need for 2 DAR record copies
May 15th Along with members of the SUVCW Dodge Camp we placed about 700 flags on veterans graves at Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa
May 17th Confirmed tax return for Central Iowa Chapter
May 17th an article appeared today in the Advocate-Messenger of Danville, KY. It focused on the activity of the Patriot grave marking by the Central Iowa Chapter.

May 16th typed up and sent completed new application to IASSAR Registrar for prospect Hugh Teale Jr. His 2 sons would also like to join is papers are in order.
May 18th Received and deposited a donation for Central Iowa Chapter Color Guard.
May 19th Met with Des Moines Register reporter Mike Kilen about possible Memorial Day article.
May 19th Central Iowa Chapter received word that an article on Cato Mead would appear in the Norwich CT newspaper this week.
May 25th Central Iowa Color Guard attended the Memorial Day open house at the Iowa National Guard Dodge Camp in Des Moines, Iowa. The event was also part of the WHO 1040 AM radio broadcast of the Van and Bonnie show from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
June 13th sent information and 3rd request for possible GWEF grant to IASSAR officer for a plaque at the site of Ebenezer Ayres grave.
June 14th Recruited at a Civil War Re-enactment near Carson, Iowa
June 20th Central Iowa S.A.R. Color Guard walked with the VFW, American Legion, SUVCW and others in the State Center, Iowa Rose Parade and later in the day recruited at a Civil War Re-enactment near State Center.
June 28th Central Iowa Color Guard attended a “Patriotic Concert to Honor those who gave their lives to serve our country. The event was held at the Living History Farms.
July 4th Central Iowa color Guard Walked in the Urbandale Parade.
July 4th Joined with the Iowa Rifles Civil War Color Guard and walked in the Independence Day Parade in Corydon, Iowa.
July 5th Sent Luther Smith op/ed story to the Des Moines Register for consideration to publish.
July 7th Sent Dan B. final paper for his SAR application.
July 10th Assisted Charlene Heggen with application for 3 SAR prospects.
July 16th Submitted application to Bob Bowen for a Partners in Patriotism award on behalf of the Central Iowa Chapter.
July 17th The Central Iowa Chapter Color Guard greeted attendees and their parents from all over the country as they registered and signed in for the 38th Annual Meeting of the Great Plains Region of the National Society of the Children of the American Revolution.
July 18th Attended the Waukee Tractor show and participated in a Civil War re-enactment and educational history program.
July 25th Central Iowa Chapter Color Guard attended the Veteran’s Marriage and Family program at Gray’s Lake in Des Moines.
The Central Iowa Chapter Color Guard and members are also planning to walk in the Iowa State Fair Parade August 12th.
On August 8th the Central Iowa Chapter Color Guard will be joined by the Iowa Rifles Civil War Color Guard and others in Fort Madison, Iowa for the rededication of the grave of Revolutionary War Patriot Ebenezer Ayres. The Central Iowa Chapter members already ordered, delivered and placed a 220 lbs granite stone on the site for the upcoming event.
Plans are to also attend the WWII Veteran’s Honor Flight at 5:00AM on August 11, 2009.
